IMEX Frankfurt’s organisers have been forced to cancel their show, which was set to take place 12-14 May, due to Coronavirus concerns.
In a release, IMEX Group CEO, Carina Bauer and Chairman, Ray Bloom noted that the German Health Minister has announced a ban on events over 1000 pax, which includes the show.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s IMEX in Frankfurt.”
The organisers also expressed concerns about the ROI of exhibitors, which may be impacted by the pandemic.
“In an ideal world we would wait and see. But we are in the real world and we cannot, in all good conscience, ask our exhibitors to continue to invest money against which they may not get a return,” the statement reads.
“We want to make it very clear that we have made this decision based purely on the facts as we know them today and, importantly for the whole IMEX team, based on the responsibility and genuine care we feel for all our clients and the global business events community.”
This news comes after the cancellation or postponing of numerous events around the world, including Get Global, IBTM Asia Pacific, Dark Mofo festival in Tasmania and South by Southwest in the US.
