Get Global is offering exhibitors full refunds or a secured spot at the 2021 show after postponing their upcoming event over Coronavirus concerns.
Co-owners of Get Global, Gary Bender and Donna Kessler said the show’s brand depends on the ROI of its exhibitors—which may be impacted by travel restrictions caused by the outbreak.
“We know, as we work every day in the industry, that the impact of Coronavirus on international business travel has been severe and our exhibitors who sell international destinations are particularly impacted,” Mr Bender said.
“Therefore, rather than risking a lower than normal return for exhibitors, we have taken the decision to postpone the show until 2021,” Ms Kessler added. “We want the best for our exhibitors and buyers and this decision, while hard to make, is the best decision for all involved.”
Ms Kessler said she is looking forward to Get Global’s return to Sydney on Friday 30 July 2021.
“We look forward to a great Get Global 2021 and the industry coming together post this unfortunate global incident.”
This news comes as ITB India 2020 announced it would also postpone their show until April 2021. IBTM Asia Pacific also postponed their show in late February.
“There is much uncertainty in the region and around the world. The recent developments
continue to be challenging and the following months are very hard to foresee at this stage,” ITB India’s statement reads.
“To ensure the safety of ITB India’s exhibitors, buyers and visitors, the organisers decided to postpone ITB India 2020, and in a responsible way allow all participants to make necessary arrangements in a timely manner.”
