Due to be completed in May 2025, 1 Hotel Melbourne is the first Australian location for the hotel group that is inspired by nature and cultivates the best of sustainable design and architecture.
The property will be a celebration of sustainable, biophilic design, featuring an unparalleled 1,000-square-metre events space, five meeting suites, 277 guest rooms and 114 hotel-branded residences, as well as several dining options.
Throughout the hotel, more than 2,000 living plants create the feeling of bringing the ‘outside-in’, with each room and suite lush with plant life and sunlight, complimenting its unique location with enviable river and city views.
Designed by award-winning teams FK, One Design Office, Carr, and Oculus in collaboration with SH Hotels & Resorts and Riverlee, the precinct embodies 1 Hotels’ mission to define luxury around nature itself. The interiors feature native flora, recycled and natural materials, and materiality that tell the story of Victoria’s diverse landscapes.
Event spaces par excellence
With floor-to-ceiling windows across three sides overlooking, and with access to, the river and 3,500-square-metre native-planted park, the premium function and events centre will be housed on the ground floor of 1 Hotel Melbourne, allowing direct vehicle access for guests and VIPs. Further complemented by a first-floor gathering suites, with access to a private bar.

The hotel occupies a uniquely low-density position on the banks of the Yarra River, conveniently located on the CBD free tramline in the revitalised Northbank precinct of the city.
