Karen McCarthy 23rd March Brisbane – Turning blind determination into limitless resilience

In losing her sight, Karen McCarthy gained a vision – an actionable blueprint for building resilience through adaption and growth in the face of change

Karen McCarthy will share her story at the Brisbane Event Organisers & Executive PA Summit on the 23rd March at the Princes Theatre.

After practicing as a lawyer for 15 years, Karen suffered life-threatening complications due to surgery to remove a tumour from her brain. She was left physically incapacitated and legally blind. The doctors told her family she wouldn’t survive or that, if she did, she would never again be able to care for herself, let alone her children.

Karen will motivate and inspire, setting out an actionable framework for you to tackle change head on.

Structured by the nous of a legal mind, emotionally charged by the story of clawing back from the brink of death, and sprinkled with hilarious anecdotes, she will change how you think about adversity and your capacity to advance towards your goals when life gets tricky.

Princess Theatre

Queensland’s oldest-standing theatre is now Brisbane’s newest home for live music and performing arts.

At 133-years old The Princes Theatre reigns as Queensland’s oldest standing theatre. The heritage-listed building, which opened in 1888, has over the years housed a picture theatre, a rag merchant, a secondhand dealer, a paper wholesaler, an
engineering firm, and most recently, a church.

The reopening of this iconic destination was helmed by The Tivoli owners, brothers Steve Sleswick and Dave Sleswick, alongside prominent Brisbane businessman Steve Wilson.
