New Zealand event groups meet with government to create ‘survival strategy’

Event associations and groups in New Zealand have met with the Minister for Economic Development Phil Twyford to create a ‘survival strategy’ in response to the impact of COVID.

New Zealand Events Association (NZEA), Conventions & Incentives New Zealand (CINZ), and The Entertainment Venues Association Of New Zealand (EVANZ) met with the minister on 30 April.

Minister Twyford has committed to representing New Zealand’s event sector as part of his portfolio.

“Minister Twyford acknowledged that our sector is among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 situation,” Ségolène de Fontenay, General Manager of NZEA said.

“He also recognised that the events sector is not covered by any one minister’s portfolio so has offered to take on that role. This is a significant boon for our sector too, at long last, have a dedicated minister to champion our industry.”

NZEA are now seeking feedback on their submission to government, which is available on their website.
