Perth is being showcased to the global business events sector at Tourism Australia’s signature bi-annual showcase, Dreamtime, which kicked off today in the Western Australian capital.
Over the next two days, guests from Greater China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Japan, South Korea, the UK, USA and New Zealand will meet and network with 87 of Australia’s business events industry.
Penny Lion, Executive General Manager Events at Tourism Australia said Dreamtime provides international event planners with the opportunity to experience Australia’s strengths as a business events destination.
“We know Dreamtime delivers tangible results for Australian industry. The 2017 event, held in Brisbane, generated more than 201 business leads worth over $247 million, of which 73 have converted into business worth $50 million,” Ms Lion said.
Perth was selected to host Dreamtime 2019 thanks to a raft of new hotels, infrastructure, city precincts and increased air access including the non-stop direct flights from London and Tokyo.
Gareth Martin, Chief Executive Officer at Perth Convention Bureau said Perth has been transformed in recent years with exciting new developments.
“It has never been a better time for Perth to host Dreamtime. We’re proud to showcase to international guests our capabilities to deliver incentive events, our strong business events offering, the natural beauty of Perth and its surrounds, and our people who live and breathe the Western Australia ‘can do’ attitude,” Mr Martin said.
After the two-day program in Perth, business event planners and media will spend the following three days undertaking an educational visit in other Australian destinations.
