Sydney will welcome it’s tallest hotel in 2020 as part of a newly-approved 55 storey complex development.
Singapore based investment firm, SC Capital won approval for the development which will secure two new street addresses in Sydney’s CBD, on 4-6 Blight St.
This will be the first major international hotel development in the state’s capital for 20 years, according to the developers.
The 226-metre tall complex will house a hotel, retail centre and offices. The hotel will be run by Hyatt as an Andaz Hotel, and include co-working spaces, a brasserie, and outdoor areas.
The design was unanimously approved by the Council’s jury, according to Graham Jahn, competition juror and City of Sydney’s Director of City Planning, Development and Transport.
SC Capital Partners Group chairman Suchad Chiaranussati said that the development will help bring Sydney’s hotel infrastructure and architecture up to international standards.
“…hotels are generally dated and well below expectations by global gateway city standards — 4-6 Bligh St will set the new benchmark in Sydney’s hotel landscape.”
