Atura Hotels has appointed experienced hotel executive Shannon Craig as general manager of its new 184-room Atura Oran Park property, which is preparing to welcome guests in Sydney’s rapidly expanding south-west.
Craig will take on the position alongside her existing responsibilities as Area General Manager NSW for EVT Hotels & Resorts, bringing more than 20 years of hospitality experience across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Her previous appointments include general manager of Rydges Parramatta, leadership roles at Rydges Wellington and Rotorua, Atura Adelaide Airport, QT Canberra, Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns and Rydges Kensington London.
The new hotel, located at 135 Podium Way in the Oran Park town centre, will provide accommodation, dining and conference facilities in an area experiencing substantial residential, commercial and infrastructure development.
Positioned approximately 20 minutes from Western Sydney International Airport, the property is expected to attract business travellers, corporate groups and visitors to the growing Camden region.
The hotel features 184 contemporary guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, outdoor swimming pool and terrace, and seven flexible event spaces.
Its largest function venue, The Grandstand, can accommodate up to 500 guests, while other facilities cater for conferences, presentations, board meetings and private functions.
Craig is overseeing the hotel’s final preparations, including recruitment, staff training, operational systems and the development of relationships with local businesses and tourism organisations.
The opening comes as Western Sydney prepares for the commencement of passenger services at its new international airport on 25 October.
With accommodation and conference demand expected to increase as the airport and surrounding business precincts develop, Atura Oran Park will add significant new capacity to the region’s hotel and events market.
