Construction has officially begun on the Aura Hotel on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, marking a significant new addition to the region’s business events infrastructure.
Backed by the Comiskey Group the $68 million development is positioned within the Aura city centre development near Caloundra and is being designed as a large-scale entertainment and events venue. Plans include a 2,500-capacity live entertainment space, multiple bars, dining outlets and function areas across three levels.
The inclusion of large-format function space alongside the hospitality offerings means the property is expected to cater to corporate events, incentive groups and major social functions, rather than operating purely as a traditional hotel. It will include a 2,500-capacity venue
The project is part of a broader strategy to establish Aura as a new commercial and community hub, with integrated infrastructure and public spaces.
While the hotel is not scheduled to open until 2027, the start of construction is a key milestone and signals growing investment in regional Queensland’s events offering.
As regional destinations continue to compete for business events, projects like Aura Hotel highlight a shift towards multi-purpose venues capable of hosting both entertainment and corporate activity in a single location.
