Australian Bureau of Statistics: International conference arrivals up 14 percent

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) have found an overall increase in the number of international delegates attending conferences in Australia.

Year-on-year comparison of visitors arriving to attend a convention or conference for the 12 months to December 2018 shows an overall increase of 14% to 303,400 delegates.

However growth in December 2018 remained nearly flat, according to the ABS.

“There were a total of 15,000 arrivals in December 2018 whose main purpose of coming to Australia was a convention/conference. This translates to a slight 3% increase from December 2017.”
