Australian event organisers can look forward to an exciting new era of connection with New Zealand following Jetstar’s recent announcement of new flights.
Jetstar is launching direct flights to Hamilton from Sydney and the Gold Coast, and to Dunedin from the Gold Coast, in June next year.
The move marks the return of trans-Tasman flights to Hamilton Airport after a 13-year hiatus.
Hamilton & Waikato Tourism events manager, Aimee Tyson, said the timing couldn’t be better for Australian event organisers planning their events for 2025.
“With direct flights back on the map, it’s now easier than ever for our Australian cousins to tap into the awe-inspiring attractions and world-class venues available in our unique region,’ she said.
“The red carpet was already laid out, now the doors are open.”
Waikato boasts venues and experiences that cater to a wide range of business events, from Hamilton venue Claudelands Conference & Exhibition Centre to the renowned Hamilton Gardens and nearby Matamata’s magical Hobbiton Movie Set.
“Imagine networking drinks set against the backdrop of our iconic Hamilton Gardens, or team-building activities in the magical world of Middle-earth’s Hobbiton Movie Set,” Ms Tyson said.
“These one-of-a-kind attractions offer event organisers unique settings that will remain etched in the memories of their guests forever.”
Meanwhile, Dunedin is celebrating a Jetstar route between the city and the Gold Coast from June 2025. Jetstar will operate three departures and three arrivals a week out of Dunedin on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The flight will increase trans-Tasman access for business events in New Zealand’s ‘wildlife and heritage capital’, which is home to leading conference venue the Dunedin Centre and the strong academic drawcard of Otago University.
Dunedin Mayor Jules Radich said he was thrilled with the announcement.
