Merivale has appointed Erin Proud as General Manager of its upcoming boutique hotel, The Whale in Narooma, signalling strong ambition for the South Coast property ahead of its 2026 opening.
Proud brings more than two decades of international luxury hospitality experience, having worked across key markets including London, Asia, the United States and Australia. Her career includes senior roles at properties such as The Savoy London, Raffles Beijing, Fairmont Grand Del Mar and Rosewood Miramar Beach.
Most recently, Proud served as General Manager of Spicers Peak Lodge, where she was responsible for delivering premium guest experiences and operational performance at one of Australia’s leading luxury lodges.
At The Whale, Proud will lead the pre‑opening phase as well as ongoing operations, shaping service culture, staffing and guest experience. The 19‑room boutique hotel is designed as a 1970s‑inspired coastal retreat, with wellness facilities including a magnesium pool, sauna and ice bath, alongside the reopening of Queen Chow restaurant.
Her appointment reflects Merivale’s broader strategy to elevate Narooma as a premium regional destination. Proud’s global luxury background and experience in regional operations are expected to play a key role in positioning the property as a standout boutique offering.
