Accommodation is once more growing in Tasmania after years of slow growth with news Hilton’s DoubleTree offering will open in Hobart later this year.
Situated within walking distance to Hobart’s Central Business District, the waterfront, and the vibrant Salamanca Markets, the new hotel is being described as promising to be a standout addition to the city’s hospitality landscape.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart will offer guests a blend of modern comfort and convenience, with 206 well-appointed rooms, a restaurant and bar, two versatile meeting rooms, an indoor swimming pool and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
The property is being built in conjunction with the Fragrance Group, with chairman James Koh saying the company was excited to bring another brand offering to Tasmania – the first Hilton-branded hotel in the state.
The signing of DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart comes as the brand surpasses 100 properties in the Asia Pacific. Other recent openings have include two new hotels in Indonesia (DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Kemayoran and DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Bintaro Jaya), two openings in Japan (DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station and DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle), one opening in India (DoubleTree by Hilton Bengaluru Whitefield), and one opening in China (DoubleTree by Hilton Yantai Golden Coast).
There are an additional 80 properties in the Asia Pacific pipeline, assisting the Hilton group with its target of surpassing 1000 trading hotels in this region by 2025.
Hobart underwent a flurry of activity around COVID time with Crowne Plaza, Vibe, Mövenpick and Marriott opening, adding approximately 750 rooms to the city’s inventory.
