
Opened in 1975, Hilton Sydney was the birthplace of Hilton’s journey in Australasia, setting new standards in international hospitality for Australian travellers and business events.
Moving ahead the property remains at the forefront of the hospitality landscape, recently completing a $40 million transformation that includes renovation of the hotel lobby, lobby lounge, executive lounge and guest hallways, as well as the addition of 12 new guest rooms, bringing the total to 598 rooms and suites.
Invited guests at the celebration included past employees, senior management, media and celebrities including chef Curtin Stone. Iconic newsreader Sandra Sully acted as MC and Paris Hilton sent a video message from New York.
Sully held a short Q&A will Hilton executives Leonard Gooz and global brand leader Alan Watts, and shared her own personal experience with the hotel, saying she had emceed an event at the Hilton Sydney last year for St Vincent de Paul in which they raised $110,000 for the charity.
In Australasia, Hilton currently has 47 hotels, with a pipeline of 12 projects under planning or construction.
As Hilton expands its footprint, the global hospitality brand is accelerating growth through franchising, offering owners greater flexibility while tapping into Hilton’s world-class expertise.
Upcoming openings include Waldorf Astoria Sydney, DoubleTree by Hilton Auckland, Hilton Garden Inn Suva, Hilton Garden Inn Brisbane, and Hilton Garden Inn Sydney Kingswood.
This year, Hilton will enter its 100th country, adding to a growing list of new destinations that includes countries like Papua New Guinea, Uzbekistan and Namibia.
