The former Crowne Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach has completed its transition to the InterContinental brand, with the final stage of the hotel’s redevelopment set to be unveiled in April.
Now operating as the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, the beachfront property has undergone a full repositioning from an upper-upscale hotel to a luxury coastal resort, marking a significant upgrade for Sydney’s eastern suburbs accommodation offering.
The transformation follows an extensive refurbishment and rebranding by IHG Hotels & Resorts in partnership with Salter Brothers, with the hotel initially welcoming guests in December 2025.
The redevelopment has been delivered in stages, with guestrooms, suites and key dining venues already open. The final phase, due in April, will introduce a new leisure and wellness precinct designed to position the hotel as a premium resort-style destination.
Key additions include an ocean-facing infinity pool, poolside bar, outdoor event terrace and a new spa and wellness facility, alongside a dedicated Club InterContinental lounge. These features are expected to significantly enhance the hotel’s appeal to both leisure travellers and the business events market.
The property features 198 guest rooms and suites, many with uninterrupted ocean views, reflecting a design approach that blends coastal lifestyle with high-end finishes. Public spaces and food and beverage offerings have also been upgraded to align with the InterContinental brand’s global luxury standards.
Located around 20 minutes from Sydney’s CBD, the hotel is one of the few true beachfront properties in the city, giving it a distinct advantage in the meetings and incentives market.
The reopening under the InterContinental flag also forms part of a broader strategy by IHG to expand its luxury footprint in Australia, with several properties being repositioned into higher-end brands.
