MEA conducting third events industry skills survey

Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) in partnership with the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) is conducting the third Australian Workplace Skills Survey for the events industry.

According to Robyn Johnson, CEO of MEA, “The information provided by this research will help identify skills gaps and emerging trends in the events workforce. It will assist us with strategic planning for the future direction on this growing industry sector and we’re delighted to collaborate with AACB to ensure that we obtain feedback from across the industry.”

In 2017 MEA undertook the first study into skills shortages in the local events industry and repeated this in 2018. These studies have been instrumental in directing MEA’s activities such as education and professional development to ensure a sustainable and well-resourced industry.

The data gathered in these surveys also enables MEA to inform government and its agencies on the workplace skills needed to ensure that there are appropriate policies in place to develop a skilled workforce and to provide data when determining policies on immigration and working visas.

MEA will publish a report on this year’s survey and will also analyse and compare the 2017 and 2018 data to identify any trends in skills, particularly shortages, and the industry’s workforce needs.

If you operate a company in the events sector and have not received the link to the survey please click here and complete. It will only take five minutes and the data collected will benefit all of the industry.

The reports will be available by the end of this year.
