The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) has confirmed Melbourne as host city for the World Conference on Lung Cancer 2029, one of the world’s largest gatherings dedicated to cancer research and care.
Presented by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the event is expected to attract more than 6,500 delegates from over 100 countries to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
MCB Chief Executive Julia Swanson said the win reinforces Melbourne’s reputation for hosting large‑scale scientific and medical congresses, delivering both economic and knowledge‑sharing benefits for Victoria.
The successful bid was supported by Tourism Australia and the Victorian Government, highlighting a coordinated national approach to attracting high‑value international business events.
The conference will provide a platform for oncology professionals to share research breakthroughs, explore new therapies and build global collaborations aimed at improving patient outcomes.
