New Qantas route strengthens Tasmania’s access

Qantas strengthens Tasmania’s global reach with new direct Perth–Hobart route launching September 26

Tasmania’s international connections continue to grow, with Qantas launching a new direct route between Perth and Hobart from September 26.

The service will operate three times per week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, providing a one-stop journey to Hobart via Perth from key Qantas international destinations including London, Paris and Rome.

Just returning from IMEX Frankfurt where she reports momentum building for sustainably-focused destinations, Business Events Tasmania CEO, Marnie Craig, welcomed the new service.

“This new connection will help remove barriers for international visitors, making it easier for event organisers to consider it for their next destination,” she said.

“And with $350 million in upgrades underway at Hobart Airport, including works to support direct flights into key Asian hubs, our island is more connected than ever.”

Ms Craig said the recent return of international flights into Hobart through Air New Zealand’s direct Auckland – Hobart route, has also provided one-stop access from the United States and other locations via New Zealand.

“These new services and airport upgrades reflect something we’re seeing more and more – That people want to come to Lutruwita/Tasmania.

“From 100 per cent renewable energy to some of the world’s cleanest air, Lutruwita/Tasmania is a destination aligned with the values that matter to global audiences – and we can’t wait to welcome them here.”
