It may have been from the comfort of their respective loungerooms, but on Wednesday night Destination North Coast and many of their stakeholders virtually attended the annual Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) ‘MEALIVE2021’ awards, where they celebrated winning both the state and national awards for “Regional Destination Marketing Organisation or Bureau”.
The award acknowledges the recognition and renewed commitment to the Business Events community made by Destination North Coast, whilst also reinforcing the benefit to delegates of conferencing in regional destinations.
The Business Events pilot program facilitated in 2019 by Destination North Coast was designed to attract and secure Business Events into regional NSW. The program was a success despite the many challenges faced by regional New South Wales and business events operators. As a result it was continued with ongoing support from Destination NSW, 14 local governments and leading industry operators, stretching from the Mid Coast in the south to The Tweed in the north.
General Manager, Michael Thurston said “In an environment where there haven’t been too many reasons to celebrate – we are delighted to have received this award as a testimony to the hard work put in by our team, the support we receive from Destination NSW, and most importantly our fabulous stakeholders throughout the North Coast who deliver first class service and unforgettable events.”
