Powerhouse Parramatta is positioning itself as a major new business events venue in Western Sydney, with details released of an extensive collection of meeting, conference and function spaces ahead of its opening on 7 November.
The new museum will offer seven event spaces capable of hosting functions ranging from intimate meetings to events for up to 1,000 guests, adding significant new capacity to Parramatta’s growing conference and events market.
At the centre of the offering is the Western Sydney University Forum, a flexible 1,045sqm space featuring retractable tiered seating. It can accommodate 940 delegates theatre-style, 540 for a banquet or up to 1,000 standing, and has been designed for conferences, plenary sessions, performances and launches.
The forum also includes production facilities, a green room and the capability to accommodate up to 70 exhibition booths.
Another major option is PS7, a 650sqm column-free function space overlooking the Parramatta River. It can host 600 guests for cocktails, 576 theatre-style or 360 for a banquet, and includes access to an adjoining terrace.
The venue’s Vitocco Family Kitchen provides a demonstration kitchen with retractable seating for 200 people and technology supporting filming and live broadcasts. It is designed to accommodate culinary events, product launches and presentations.
On the rooftop, the ING Pavilion and garden provide indoor and outdoor event space overlooking the Parramatta River, with capacity for up to 200 guests. Smaller options include a 55-seat cinema with adjoining bar and The Residence, a private space suited to VIP functions and smaller meetings.
Powerhouse Parramatta is the largest museum ever built in NSW, with more than 18,000sqm of public and exhibition space. Designed by Moreau Kusunoki and Genton, the development is Western Sydney’s first major state cultural institution.
The venue is already accepting enquiries for business events from December, which will be just weeks after Western Sydney International Airport begins passenger operations.
