Qatar Airways to launch direct flights from Western Sydney to Doha

Tickets for the new service are scheduled to go on sale on 19 December 2026

Qatar Airways has announced plans to introduce direct flights between Western Sydney International Airport and Doha from 15 December 2027, providing business and leisure travellers with another major international gateway.

The airline will initially operate three return services each week using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with plans to progressively increase frequencies to daily flights as demand grows.

Each aircraft will offer 42 Qsuite Business Class seats and 312 Economy Class seats, together with complimentary Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi.

The new service will provide connections through Qatar Airways’ hub at Hamad International Airport to more than 170 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and other international markets.

Tickets for the new service are scheduled to go on sale on 19 December 2026.

Western Sydney will become Qatar Airways’ seventh Australian gateway, joining Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.

The airline’s expansion also builds on its partnership with Virgin Australia, which is intended to strengthen domestic and international connectivity.

The route has been secured with support from the NSW Government’s Western Sydney International Take-Off Fund, which is designed to attract new international airlines and increase visitor numbers.

The announcement comes just days before Western Sydney International welcomes its first commercial passengers on 25 October, marking a major milestone in the development of Australia’s newest international airport.
