“This is not a decision we have taken lightly”: IBTM Asia Pacific 2020 postponed

Reed Travel Exhibitions has postponed their new show, IBTM Asia Pacific, which was set to take place in Singapore in April this year.

Reed has set a new date of 13 to 14 April 2021, with the show remaining in Singapore.

This news comes as a number of other trade shows and major events have been cancelled or postponed in Singapore due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

According to Reed and IBTM Events, the decision to postpone was made after in-depth discussions with customers and hosted buyers from the region and globally.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly. Our customers, partners and team in Singapore have worked incredibly hard on the event and while it is disappointing to postpone, it’s imperative that we prioritise the health and safety of everyone involved,” IBTM Events Portfolio Director, Shane Hannam said.

Despite the outbreak, Mr Hannam said IBTM is committed to Singapore as a host city and looks forward to next years’ show.

“We look forward to returning to the region very soon to meet with as many customers and partners as possible.”

Dr Edward Koh, Executive Director, Conventions, Meetings and Incentive Travel at Singapore Tourism Board supports the decision to postpone.

“IBTM is a valued partner, and their Asia Pacific show remains a key highlight in Singapore’s event calendar. We look forward to extending a warm welcome to all attendees and exhibitors in 2021,” Dr Koh said.

Singapore has the highest recorded rate of Coronavirus cases outside of mainland China, with 81 confirmed infections as of late February.
