Independent hotel management company Trilogy Hotels has been appointed operator of The Sands Torquay Resort by Central Real Capital (CRC), effective from 1st July 2026, marking the operator’s entry into Victoria’s Surf Coast market.
Located on Victoria’s iconic Surf Coast, approximately 90 minutes from Melbourne and 20 minutes from Geelong, The Sands Torquay is regarded as one of the state’s leading golf and leisure resorts. The property features 112 suites overlooking either the championship golf course or the surrounding coastal landscape and has recently completed a significant refurbishment program.
At the centre of the resort is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Australian professional golfer Stuart Appleby. The par-72 course is built into the natural sand dunes of the region and is supported by a strong local membership base.
Central Real Capital said the appointment of Trilogy Hotels aligns with its long-term vision for the property.
“Our aim is to preserve, stabilise and enhance The Sands as an exceptional, high-quality residential, hospitality and golf destination for the long term,” said Tony Denny on behalf of Central Real Capital.
“We look forward to working with Trilogy Hotels, an operator whose expertise, experience and commitment give us the confidence to see our vision come to life for resort guests and the surrounding community.”
Trilogy Hotels currently manages and advises on a portfolio and pipeline of 24 properties and has established experience operating regional resorts and golf destinations. Its portfolio includes the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains – MGallery Collection, Leura Golf Club and the Comfort Resort Leura Gardens.
Trilogy Hotels Chief Executive Officer Scott Boyes said the company saw significant potential in the resort’s mix of leisure, wellness, golf and business events.
“We are honoured to have been appointed by CRC as operators of The Sands Torquay,” he said.
“Building on the resort’s natural strengths in golf, wellness, coastal leisure and business events, we are focused on unlocking the resort’s potential and delivering an enriched experience for guests and the community.”
In addition to its accommodation offering, The Sands Torquay provides a range of wellness and recreational facilities including a six-lane, 25-metre indoor heated pool, a fully equipped gymnasium, two tennis courts and group fitness classes.
The resort is also home to three food and beverage venues — Spike Café, Bunkers and Shirley’s — which cater for hotel guests, golf members and local residents.
Business events remain an important part of the property’s offering, with conference and event facilities capable of hosting up to 400 delegates in theatre configuration, positioning the resort as an alternative destination for meetings and conferences seeking a coastal setting within easy reach of Melbourne and Geelong.
