The Gold Coast is set to welcome its first Westin hotel after Marriott International signed a franchise agreement with Queensland developer M Property for a new luxury hotel in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
The Westin Surfers Paradise will occupy levels six to 25 of a new mixed-use tower on Surfers Paradise Boulevard. The hotel will feature 115 guestrooms and 23 suites, together with a signature restaurant and bar, infinity pool, pool bar, day spa and fitness studio. The property will be operated by La Vie Hotels & Resorts.
The project represents another significant investment in the Gold Coast’s premium accommodation sector as the city prepares for continued visitor growth and increasing demand ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Industry forecasts indicate the Gold Coast will require more than 5,500 additional hotel rooms over the next decade to meet projected demand.
Marriott International said the signing strengthens its presence in Queensland and expands the Westin brand in Australia. The hotel has been designed to reflect the brand’s focus on wellbeing, with facilities aimed at both leisure and business travellers.
M Property said the development would establish a new benchmark for hospitality on the Gold Coast. Construction is expected to commence following final approvals, with the hotel anticipated to open in 2029.
Once complete, the Westin Surfers Paradise will become Marriott’s first Westin-branded property on the Gold Coast and is expected to further strengthen the region’s appeal as one of Australia’s leading business events and corporate travel destinations.
