AIME strengthens senior team ahead of 2027 Melbourne event

AIME Event Director Silke Calder said the expanded leadership team would support AIME's continuing growth

AIME has strengthened its senior leadership team ahead of its return to Melbourne next February, appointing Monica Kent-Giles as Marketing Director and Brooke Campbell as Buyer Engagement Director.

The appointments come as preparations ramp up for AIME 2027, which will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 15–17 February.

Campbell’s appointment is to a newly created position, reflecting an increased focus on the hosted buyer experience and the quality of appointments generated between exhibitors and event planners attending the show.

She brings more than 20 years’ experience spanning hotels, convention centres, destination bureaux, events and the corporate and wholesale sectors. Her previous senior roles have included positions with Experience Gold Coast, New Zealand International Convention Centre and MCEC.

Campbell said her focus would be on improving the buyer journey while continuing to attract experienced planners from Australia and key international markets.

“The strength of AIME lies in how precisely we match exhibitors with a curated group of decision-makers ready to do business,” Campbell said.

Kent-Giles joins AIME with a background covering brand development, communications, digital marketing and events across APAC, EMEA and the US.

Her connection with the business events sector dates back to the beginning of her career at Melbourne Convention Bureau. She has since held senior marketing positions with News Corp in Australia and the UK, Melbourne Airport, the Recruitment, Consulting and Staffing Association and PMY Group.

“Having attended AIME over many years, I’ve experienced firsthand the energy, incredible connections and value the show delivers to the business events industry,” Kent-Giles said.

AIME Event Director Silke Calder, who will enter her seventh year at the helm of the event, said the expanded leadership team would support AIME’s continuing growth.

“AIME continues to grow in both scale and impact, with more of the global community across Asia Pacific and beyond coming together each year to connect and do business,” Calder said.

She said the two executives were already bringing new ideas and specialist expertise to the team as preparations for the 2027 event gathered momentum.

AIME is delivered by Talk2 Media & Events on behalf of the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB). AIME 2027 will return to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 15–17 February 2027.
