Obay Bahri has been appointed General Manager of The Porter House Hotel Sydney – MGallery Collection.
Bahri joins the Accor-operated property with extensive experience across premium and luxury hospitality, bringing a strong focus on guest experience, storytelling and brand-led service delivery. His appointment comes as the hotel continues to build its position within Sydney’s competitive boutique hotel market, appealing to both high-end leisure travellers and corporate guests.
In announcing his appointment, Bahri highlighted the significance of the property’s heritage and its role within the MGallery portfolio. He said: “The Porter House Hotel boasts extraordinary character and heritage. I am proud to be entrusted with its stewardship, and excited to build on its remarkable legacy.”
He added that his focus would be on delivering highly personalised guest experiences that reflect both the building’s history and the distinctive narrative approach of the MGallery brand. His leadership is expected to centre on creating memorable stays through attention to detail, design and service, while reinforcing the hotel’s identity as a destination in its own right.
Bahri’s appointment has also been welcomed by Accor leadership. David Fraser, Vice President Operations Pacific for Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems, said the group was “delighted to welcome Obay” to the property, noting his leadership capability and alignment with the brand’s premium positioning.
As General Manager, Bahri will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including team leadership, guest experience and commercial performance. A key part of his remit will be strengthening the hotel’s presence within Sydney’s meetings and events market, as well as deepening relationships with corporate partners and travel networks.
His appointment reflects Accor’s broader strategy of placing experienced operators into key properties to drive performance and brand differentiation.
